Theme of the night/month/year…. I love love love my city! When I finally get my camera my first plan to break her in is to randomly walk the streets of ny… I can’t think of a better way to acquaint ourselves. Until then I’m gonna have to LOVE my iPhone.
Stepped all the way in the last this morning… You know it’s real when you still cringe at the sound of Ms. Faulkner’s voice. Lesson of the morning: #sankofa you gotta know where you come from to know where you’re going.
So I have a little cousin that lives in Jamaica. When I went to visit this summer I stayed with them and she was fascinated with my camera. Now I don’t usually let anyone out of my eyesight with my camera but while we were at a family reunion I let her go free and the things she came back with left me speechless. So when my trip was over her father was driving us to the airport, in true Danielle fashion I was lost outside the window contemplating life and all that good stuff. And I don’t know what came over me but I took the charger for my camera out my bag and turned around and handed my cousin the camera. She got excited and thought I was telling her to take pictures. But when I told her it was hers… The look in her eyes is something that will stay with me.
Anyway she sends me pictures every once in a while… This is on of them.
Slow Down
So it’s fall… This year has been pretty hectic. Now when I say hectic I’m really avoiding using the word emotional. But that’s the truth. This has been an extremely emotional year for me.
Sidenote: the reason I hate using the word emotional is because it usually comes with a negative connotation. Now I know myself and I know that I am in touch with my emotions lol but I wouldn’t say I’m an emotional person per se. Anyway that’s not the purpose of this post.
This year: I’ve lost friends, gained friends, grown closer to my family, grown apart from parts of my family, gained perspective on the person I’ve become, found flaws within myself (that I am working on), became re-acquainted with my beauty (outer and inner)… The list can def go on. But with all this going on I feel like, as usual, the year has zipped by.
Get Lost.. I did.
Or did I?? You know, life is funny. i graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Health Education (with a concentration in maternal and child health) YET i am currently working in finance… I celebrated my 1 yr anniversary last month. for an entire year i’ve been sitting in front of a computer staring at numbers (this is where the “lost” piece comes from, not because I’m staring at numbers— more so because i’m a health major staring at numbers). a but two months ago my group moved to a new floor, and THIS is my view (well… from a diff perspective). i might post the entire view one day. but sitting in my office and seeing this view everyday, it kinda feels like a breath of fresh ai… NAH!!! I’m still lost. (it sounded nice tho lol)
In the Sky
Ok so i’ve been traveling since before i could remember… my mom used to tell me that i was always the quietest baby on the plane. I’ve always found a serenity up there…
I usually try to book my flights during a sunset, i can’t help my obsession. (Hi, my name is Danielle and i LOVE sunsets) However i do have 1 major problem… the dirty WINDOWS!!!
STOP.
Happy Monday! i feel like I’ve heard “Man! time is flying!!” way too often this year. (I’m guilty of saying this myself). Lately it seems like we have lost sight of the stop signs in our lives… it is extremely important to take the time to STOP and just BE. be in the moment. LIVE FOR NOW. we have a tendency to just keep going, going through the motions, going non-STOP, just going. until its too late to live in what we’re working so hard to create for ourselves. life is way too short to not STOP every once in a while.
I’ve decided to STOP… and just BE.
